Learning and Teaching

We recognise that all children are unique so have their own strengths, interests, characters and learning preferences.

We believe that children learn best when they:

  • Are happy
  • Are interested and motivated
  • Clearly understand the objective (WALT) and the task
  • Are given learning experiences which match their ability
  • Are challenged and stimulated
  • Achieve success and gain approval
  • Are confident, feel secure and are aware of boundaries.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum within a happy, Christian atmosphere that is safe, friendly, stimulating and consistent. We know that we as adults have our own preferred learning styles, and therefore teaching styles, and knowing this helps us to be aware of the effect it can have on the way that pupils learn.

St Peters Church of England Junior School aspires to provide high quality learning experiences which enable all children to become:

  • Successful learners who enjoy learning, making progress and achieve.
  • Confident individuals who are able to live a safe, healthy and fulfilling life.
  • Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
