Bits from the Blitz

Year 6 spent a day exploring bits from the blitz.

We made gas masks and simulated an air raid situation. We spent time looking at artefacts and the children became history detectives trying to identify the different objects discussing what they were and how they were used.

We also participated in a quiz about rationing (it was amazing how little food the people lived on!)

It was fantastic to see so many children dressed as evacuees it helped make the day special. The children learnt a lot of background knowledge about the war at home which will be developed over the next half term.
