Year 5 African Drumming Day

On Friday 5th March, Year 5 had an amazing day learning how to play African drums. Both classes worked with Steve from Unbeatable-Energy which ended with a performance to parents and the rest of the school. The children learnt how to play different rhythms and got to experience playing different instruments. The drumming session is part of our African Adventure theme work.

"The African drumming was fun and I enjoyed learning the different African songs." (Ravinder 5G)

"I really enjoyed the day and I I got to play the big Junjun drum!" (Kai 5G)

" The drumming was really fun and I got to play on lots of different ones." (Isaac 5H)

"I got to play on the smallest drum but it made the best sound." (Tyler 5H)

Here are some comments from the parents who came along to the performance:

"The children seemed to have fun drumming and created some great beats, and in time!"

"Bringing cultures to life with music in a fun way. A great experience."

"Excellent! I loved it! Thanks!"

For the other half of the day, the children worked hard in class to make tradition African masks. Lets hope they dont scare too many people!
