Computing

Subject Leader: Mr S Madher

Our Intent

At St Peter’s C of E Junior School, we understand that technology is everywhere and plays and ever-increasing role in all of our lives. We recognise that some of our children are exposed to technology beyond their age limits outside of school. We aim to face this head-on by preparing and equipping our children to be able to use technology responsibly and know how to keep themselves and others safe. We want our pupils to make the right decisions outside of the classroom, as well as in school, to develop into better-prepared digital citizens.

The National Curriculum outlines three themes of Computing: digital literacy, information technology and computer science. We aim to regularly revisit the three core strands each term to sustain a balanced and relevant computing curriculum.

At St Peter’s, we aim for children and teachers to explore and experiment with new technology so that we can all be excited about Computing lessons. We encourage staff to embed computing across the whole curriculum to make Computing learning significant and accessible. We want to expose staff and children to a broad range of technology, beyond an iPad, that may inspire them to create.
