Curriculum
UPDATES
Over the past few years, our school has experienced lower numbers which led to three mixed year 3/4 classes. However, over the summer holidays, we saw a significant and rapid increase in the number of children coming to St Peter’s. This resulted in larger class sizes than expected so we decided to employ another teacher to ensure class sizes are smaller.
This growth is a testament to the trust and confidence you have placed in us as your chosen school and the exciting journey St Peter’s is on.
To accommodate this unexpected increase in children, we have carefully considered various options and have decided to implement a necessary change part way through the new academic year. St Peter’s transitioned from three classes to four classes in year 3 and year 4 – two year 3 classes and two year 4 classes.
We understand that change can sometimes be unsettling, but we assure you that this decision has been made with the best interest of your children in mind. By adding an additional class, we will be able to maintain smaller class sizes, ensuring that each student receives the individual attention they deserve.
Therefore, we are updating our curriculum section on our website throughout the 2023 / 2024 academic year to reflect this change in classing structure.
'Unlocking our Potential'
The curriculum is all the planned, sequenced learning we teach. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but also the range of additional experiences, opportunities and learning that we carefully organise in order to promote all children’s learning and personal development so all children can flourish.Every age group within the school covers the full range of subjects from the National Curriculum, plus Religious Education (for more information on the National Curriculum click HERE).
On this page you will find links to our whole school curriculum maps, known as the ‘Long Term Plan’ which details each year group’s learning, term by term. Also, all of the subjects can be explored – these links show the progression in learning we continue to develop for each curriculum area.
St Peter's C of E Junior School will work with everyone to create a happy, safe and stimulating setting where children are motivated to unlock their full potential. By maintaining high expectations of ourselves and each other, our children will be equipped to encounter opportunities and challenges with perseverance and courage whilst showing respect and compassion.
We encourage a curiosity about the world and strive to ensure that our children will contribute positively to it, both now and in the future.
With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26)
