Our Intent
At St Peter's Church of England Junior School, we have designed our curriculum to enable our children to be confident learners. We have designed a deep and rich science curriculum to engage, develop, innovate, and promote children’s learning built upon our key mission statement of ‘Unlocking Our Potential’. The science curriculum has been developed hand in hand with our mission statement, through our core values of ‘Perseverance, Courage, Respect and Compassion’.
Through the development and provision of an engaging science curriculum, we believe children will develop curiosity, interest, knowledge and understanding of their immediate environment as well as that of the wider world beyond the boundaries of our school.
Scientific enquiry will be used by our children and will be intrinsic in helping them to develop their knowledge of scientific ideas and to be able to answer their own questions.
We aim here, at St Peter’s, to secure and extend children’s scientific vocabulary, knowledge and skills through the provision of stimulating and challenging experiences. Through these experiences the children in our care will become curious learners who will develop their scientific skills, whilst acquiring knowledge to explore the world around them.
Careers in Science
Learning in science, it’s all about innovation, discovery and research. Careers in science are genuinely some of the most exciting, interesting and significant out there, they are diverse. It’s all about improving people’s lives, improving commercial enterprises and developing knowledge and understanding of people, nature, the world and the universe.
